How much does it cost to upload music to YouTube Music?

When you apply to work with us, we’ll consider your goals and our expertise and offer you a royalty share to reflect your needs as an artist or label.
Distributing, promoting and protecting your music with us includes no upfront fees, no additional costs for extra features, and no long-term contracts locking you into unfavourable deals.
How long does it take for my music to go live on YouTube Music?
Releasing music on YouTube Music through our intuitive distribution dashboard is simple.
Once you’ve hit ‘Distribute’, your music is sent over to our distribution queue, where it’s thoroughly checked and reviewed by our team to make sure there are no errors, issues or licensing concerns.
We review every release within 3 working days (usually much sooner!), then, if you’ve chosen ASAP distribution, we’ll send your music straight to YouTube Music.
Music platforms can take 1-2 days to fully ingest after we’ve distributed your release, then it will be live for your fans to enjoy!

When do I get paid by YouTube Music?
As an Identity Music artist or record label, your YouTube Music revenue (along with revenue from other streaming platforms you distributed your music to) will be paid out to you monthly, a maximum of 45 days after the end of the month your royalties were earned in, after the $50USD payout threshold has been reached.
Does distributing to other platforms cost extra?
No! Regardless of how many of our partnered music platforms you choose to distribute your music to, there are no extra charges or additional costs.
Our royalty share basis means that there are no upfront costs to distributing your music and you always keep the lion’s share of your earnings, no matter how many platforms your music is released on.
I’m struggling with my release - how can I get support?
Client support is one of the things we’re best at. Our Client Management team can be contacted via email, social media, live chat or telephone. Our support team are real humans with a real desire to help you resolve any issues - with no chatbots or automated responses in sight.
During our working hours (10am-6pm UK, Monday to Friday), our live chat response time is under 2 minutes, making us one of the most responsive distributors you could choose to work with.
How much does YouTube Music pay per stream?
YouTube Music pays artists in two ways: through plays of their music and through use of their music in videos generating ad revenue.
Calculating a per stream royalty rate for YouTube Music is impossible, given how many elements affect royalty rate, but in 2024 the average revenue for 1,000 streams was ~$4.80 USD.
